 The Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project is a non profit (501c3) organization that is dedicated to offering students and  youth in the Atlanta area a chance to enjoy the mysteries of our nearest star. 

Now Stephen Ramsden is bringing the view of the stars and sun right in the L5PCC parking lot.  You can use the latest in narrowband solar telescopes to bring solar activity in the Suns photosphere to the eyes of  students so that it may spark or reinforce an interest in the sciences among students.  BRING THE WHOLE FAMILY!

Stephen Ramsden is an Air Traffic Controller in Atlanta and avid Solar Astronomer. He runs the largest Solar Astronomy Outreach program in the country (The Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project www.charliebates.org) using state of the art narrowband telescopes. Stephen visited over 70 schools in 2009 and administered the program to over 30,000 students. In 2010 Stephen will be administering a program through the City of Atlanta that aims to increase park participation while showing Astronomy to the general public. He is a NASA Solar System Ambassador and an Aviation and Space Education counselor for the Federal Aviation Administration. Stephen routinely lectures clubs and civic gatherings concerning subjects ranging from Solar Astrophotography to current NASA Missions.

It is common for film production companies to use the rich character of our wonderful building for movies, tv, and independent film. Now Bonanza Productions is among the many companies to rent the L5PCC building for filming.  In the Fall of 2009, Bonanza shot a scene for the upcoming FOX TV series, PAST LIFE, at the Center.

PAST LIFE is a new drama series about an unlikely pair of past-life detectives who investigate whether what is happening to you today is the result of who you were before.

DR. KATE MCGINN (Kelli Giddish, “All My Children”) is not your typical psychologist. Confident, outspoken and highly educated, she works at The Talmadge Center for Behavioral Health in New York City, a world-renowned institute dedicated to the study of the science of the soul.

After experiencing a past-life regression in her 20s, Kate became a believer in reincarnation. Using regression therapy and her natural gift for reading people, Kate helps solve the mysteries of her troubled clients who suffer from present-day problems caused by past-life traumas. She believes there are levels of consciousness and explanations for human behavior that science can’t begin to explain. Accustomed to skeptics, but not bothered by them, Kate is an unapologetic believer and a force of nature who marches to the beat of her own drummer.

The website has a fresh new look-and-feel and is easier to navigate.  We made it easier to find the Center calendar.  And most important we updated our Partner list.  Like any website, this is a work-in-progress so any feedback would be appreciated (post in comments).

This show takes her work further with the creation of a digital video using computer-extracted pieces of the collages on view at the exhibition.  The sixteen  minute video’s hypnotic music by Peter Gabriel provides a backdrop for the cut-outs to swirl and dance forming a unique enchanting narrative.

Look at these collages and discover parts of them in the video presentaion.  The video and collages act as a unified installation.

Hildebrand-Mills has exhibited in solo and group shows in New York, Atlanta and Texas.  One of her paintings was chosen by Anne Umland, Curator, Painting & Sculpture Department, Museum of Modern Art, NY, for inclusion in a juried exhibition at Pleiades Gallery in NYC.  Hildebrand-Mills has received many awards and accolades for her collage and collage-inspired work.
